'Gamebirds & Waterfowl of Southern Africa' presents 68 of Claude Gibney Finch-Davies’s watercolours of southern African gamebirds and waterfowl. The paintings were originally commissioned to illustrate Lieutenant-Colonel Boyd Robert Horsbrugh’s 'The Game-Birds and Water-Fowl of South Africa', published in 1912, and incorporate Finch-Davies’s observations of the birds he studied. This later volume showcases the original paintings as a record of Finch-Davies’s distinctive approach to bird illustration, with the plates particularly notable for their coloured backgrounds. Published by Winchester Press in Johannesburg in 1986, the book contains 190 pages and was issued as a limited edition with a slipcase.
