'The Story of the Imperial Light Horse in the South African War, 1899–1902' by George Fleming Gibson is a detailed regimental history of the Imperial Light Horse during the Anglo-Boer War. Gibson, who served as a lieutenant and intelligence officer with the regiment, recounts its formation and wartime service, including its involvement at Elandslaagte, Wagon Hill, Colenso and Spion Kop, as well as the reliefs of Ladysmith and Mafeking. The book combines Gibson's own military experience with accounts of the regiment's operations and includes illustrations, portraits and maps. Originally published in 1937 by G.D. & Co., the volume runs to approximately 350 pages and is an important contemporary regimental account of the war.
