Cecil Higgs — Victor Holloway (SA Art Library)

Description

'Cecil Higgs' by Victor Holloway is a volume in the South African Art Library series, devoted to the life and work of South African artist Cecil Higgs (1898–1986). First published by C. Struik in Cape Town in 1974, the book contains 64 pages and is extensively illustrated with reproductions of Higgs’s paintings, including both colour and black-and-white images. Holloway examines Higgs’s development as an artist and her distinctive approach to colour, landscapes and still-life subjects, placing her work within the broader history of South African art. The volume provides a concise introduction to one of South Africa’s notable twentieth-century painters.
