Description

'Painting and Culture of the Mongols' by M. S. Ipsiroglu examines the artistic achievements of the Mongol world, with particular attention to painting and the illustrated book. Originally published in German as 'Malerei der Mongolen', the work considers the development of Mongol painting and its connections with the artistic traditions of China, Persia and the wider Islamic world. The book is richly illustrated, with 54 plates and 11 text figures in the 1966 Abrams edition, including numerous colour illustrations. Translated from the German by E. D. Phillips, it provides an important study of Mongolian art and the cultural exchange that shaped it.
