Description

'The Hound of the Baskervilles' by Arthur Conan Doyle follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson as they investigate the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville on the remote moors of Devon. According to an old family legend, the Baskervilles are haunted by a gigantic supernatural hound, and the arrival of Sir Henry Baskerville as the new heir appears to place him in danger. As Watson investigates Baskerville Hall and the surrounding moor while Holmes works to uncover the truth, seemingly supernatural events are gradually brought into the realm of detection and reason. The novel was first serialised in *The Strand Magazine* from August 1901 to April 1902 and published in book form by George Newnes in March 1902.
