Description
'Requiem for a Nun' by William Faulkner is a hybrid work combining prose narrative, dramatic scenes and historical commentary. It follows Temple Drake, a character first introduced in Faulkner’s novel 'Sanctuary', after her former maid Nancy Mannigoe is convicted of murdering Temple’s infant daughter and sentenced to death. Set in the fictional Mississippi town of Jefferson, the work explores guilt, responsibility, justice, redemption and the possibility of moral change. First published in 1951, it continues Temple’s story while also expanding Faulkner’s fictional history of Yoknapatawpha County.
