Description

'Flowers for Mrs Harris' is a charming novel about Ada Harris, a hardworking London charwoman who becomes determined to own a Christian Dior evening dress after seeing one in the home where she works. After years of saving, she travels to Paris and visits the House of Dior, where her straightforward kindness brings her into contact with a very different world and a number of unexpected friendships. What begins as a simple quest for a dress develops into a story about generosity, friendship, class and the value of human connection. First published in 1958, the novel was published in the United States as 'Mrs. ’Arris Goes to Paris' and became the first of four novels about Ada Harris.
