Description

'The Mabinogion' is a collection of medieval Welsh tales preserved primarily in the 'White Book of Rhydderch' and the 'Red Book of Hergest', bringing together stories of kings, heroes, enchantment, romance and supernatural events. The collection includes the Four Branches of the Mabinogi, as well as other tales such as 'Culhwch and Olwen', 'The Dream of Macsen' and 'The Lady of the Fountain'. Gwyn Jones and Thomas Jones’s translation was first published in 1949 and is noted for presenting the stories in clear modern English while retaining much of their distinctive Welsh character. This Everyman's Library edition provides an accessible introduction to one of the most important surviving bodies of medieval Welsh literature.
