Description
'The World Over' is a collection of short stories by W. Somerset Maugham, published in 1952 as the second volume of his collected short stories, following 'East and West'. The collection brings together stories set in a wide variety of places and social worlds, including colonial outposts, Europe, Asia and the South Seas, and features such well-known pieces as 'Mr. Know-All', 'The Lotus Eater', 'The Three Fat Women of Antibes', 'The Luncheon', 'The Verger' and 'Winter Cruise'. Maugham explores love, deception, ambition, loneliness and the often unexpected behaviour of ordinary people, with the concise storytelling and sharp observation for which his short fiction is known.
