Description
'Inferno and From an Occult Diary' by August Strindberg brings together two autobiographical works documenting the Swedish writer’s psychological and spiritual crisis in the 1890s. In 'Inferno', Strindberg recounts his experiences of paranoia, alchemical experimentation and religious searching in Paris and elsewhere, blending personal testimony with mystical interpretations of everyday events. 'From an Occult Diary' continues his exploration of occultism, symbolism and the possibility of hidden forces shaping human experience. This Penguin Classics edition offers a revealing account of a turbulent period in the life of one of modern literature’s most complex figures.
