My Enemy's Enemy — Kingsley Amis (Penguin)

Description

'My Enemy's Enemy' is a political thriller by Kingsley Amis set against the tensions and shifting loyalties of the Cold War. The novel follows characters caught between competing political interests, where alliances are uncertain and yesterday's enemy may become today's reluctant ally. Amis combines espionage, political intrigue and dark humour with his characteristic interest in English society and human weakness. First published in 1962, it is an engaging example of Amis's early work in a more serious and politically charged mode.
