Description
'Käthe Kollwitz' is an illustrated exhibition catalogue devoted to the life and work of the German artist Käthe Kollwitz (1867–1945). Published by the Rembrandt van Rijn Art Foundation in Cape Town in 1997, it accompanied an exhibition of Kollwitz’s work that toured South Africa in 1997–1998. The catalogue includes an essay by Hannelore Fischer, reproductions of her lithographs, etchings, woodcuts and sculptures, a chronology and a catalogue of 86 works. The text is presented in both Afrikaans and English, making this a useful introduction to Kollwitz’s powerful and deeply human artistic work.
