Description

'The Life and Art of François Krige' by Justin Fox is a biography and study of the South African artist François Krige (1913–1994), written by his nephew. Krige studied at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town and travelled extensively, producing paintings and drawings of landscapes, people, wildlife and still life. During the Second World War he worked as a war artist in North Africa and the Mediterranean, while his later work included scenes of South African life and landscapes. Published by Fernwood Press in 2000, the 144-page volume is extensively illustrated and includes an appreciation of Krige’s work by art historian Stefan Hundt.
