Description
'The London Aphrodite' was an avant-garde literary and art magazine edited by Jack Lindsay and P. R. Stephensen and published by the Fanfrolico Press in London between 1928 and 1929. The periodical combined poetry, prose, essays, illustrations and reproductions of artwork, reflecting the editors’ interest in modernism, mythology, sexuality and experimental literature. Lindsay and Stephensen were associated with the Fanfrolico Press, which became known for its finely produced and often provocative publications. Today, 'The London Aphrodite' is of particular interest as an example of the independent literary and artistic culture of late-1920s London and the publishing history of the Fanfrolico Press.
