Description
'Luthers Leben' is a major scholarly biography of Martin Luther by the German theologian Julius Köstlin, first published in 1875. Drawing on Luther’s writings and contemporary historical sources, Köstlin traces his subject’s life from his childhood and entry into the Augustinian order through his theological development, the Reformation and his later years. The work places particular emphasis on Luther’s religious thought and his role in the transformation of the Christian Church in sixteenth-century Europe. This antiquarian German edition offers an early historical study of one of the central figures of the Protestant Reformation.
