1 in stock
Description
Published by the Cape Provincial Institute of Architects between 1978 and 1983, 'The Buildings of Central Cape Town' is a three-volume architectural survey documenting the city’s built heritage. Volume One, 'Formative Influences and Classification', examines the influences shaping Cape Town’s architecture and establishes a system for classifying its buildings. Volume Two presents John Rennie’s survey of central Cape Town’s buildings, undertaken in 1977 and 1978, while Volume Three extends the work through a further survey conducted in 1982 and 1983 by Teresa Louw, with contributions from Rennie and Gregg Goddard. Illustrated with photographs, plans and detailed architectural and historical information, the set is a valuable reference for understanding and researching Cape Town’s architectural development.
